ALBUM REVIEWS
• The Big Pink
Future This
British duo The Big Pink released their second studio album Future This two years after the debut of their first album A Brief History of Love. The album couldn't be more suitably titled as Robbie Furz and Milo Cordell seem to have taken their previous tone doused in sometimes ill-fated love and replaced it with an existential sound, full of experimental (and sometimes hip-hop-influenced) electronic samples.

The first single "Stay Gold" was released in November of 2011 and has had generally positive reviews. The uncanny resemblance in vocals to that of James Mercer of the Shins marry well with the electronic nuances that The Big Pink have trademarked. It seems they've polished their talent while still remaining blissfully vague in their lyrical content. The Big Pink may have been hinting their influences beyond Bob Dylan and The Band with their name by adding tracks that share an eerie similarity to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon with songs like "The Palace."

The title track "Future This" is possibly their least exciting but most universally appealing song, as it bears a surprising similarity to songs off of their previous album. The rest of this album flourishes by painting sometimes lyrically dull songs with intense instrumentals that don't seem to be the clone of another band, proving just how Future This album really is.
